The purpose of the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program grants is to advance community-centered connection projects that improve access to daily needs, foster equitable development, reconnect communities by removing or mitigating transportation barriers, prioritize disadvantaged communities, emphasize equity, justice, access, community engagement, climate change mitigation, resilience, workforce development, economic opportunity, and planning integration, and support projects aligned with the goals of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Eligible applicants include states, local governments, tribal governments, metropolitan planning organizations, and non-profit organizations.
Eligible facilities for grants include highways, transit lines, rail lines, and other transportation facilities creating barriers to community connectivity.
Funding is allocated for FY 2024, 2025, and 2026, with specific amounts for Planning Grants and Capital Construction Grants.
