FHWA is currently inviting applications for the 2026 Tribal Transportation Program Safety Fund (TTPSF). These competitive funds are intended to support projects aimed at reducing transportation fatalities and serious injuries in Indian Country. Applications are due January 15, 2026. Funds from the Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) are allocated to tackle transportation safety issues identified by federally recognized Indian tribes through a competitive, discretionary program. Projects selected aim to decrease fatal and serious injuries in transportation-related incidents, like motor vehicle crashes.
Eligible Funding Categories:
· Safety Plans Category
· Data Assessment, Improvement, and Analysis Category
· Systemic Roadway Departure Countermeasures Category
· Infrastructure Improvement Category
For over fifteen years, Carlson and Associates has worked alongside Tribes and regional, state, and federal transportation planning agencies to secure grant funding focused on enhancing Tribal transportation safety. Our expertise includes performing road audits, developing Transportation Safety Plans, and creating Tribal Long Range Transportation Plans. We are certified by the Department of the Interior to operate within the BIA's Road Inventory Facility Data System (RIFDS), an essential tool for updating Tribal road and bridge inventories in the Tribe's NTTFI.
